Itinerary

Singapore, Singapore

Date of arrival 11 Nov 2026

The main island of Singapore is shaped like a flattened diamond, 42 km (26 miles) east to west and 23 km (14 miles) north to south. Near the northern peak is the causeway leading to West Malaysia—Kuala Lumpur is less than four hours away by car. It is at the southern foot where you will find most of the city-state’s action, with its gleaming office towers, working docks, and futuristic “supertrees,” which are solar-powered and serve as vertical gardens. Offshore are Sentosa and over 60 smaller islands, most uninhabited, that serve as bases for oil refining or as playgrounds and beach escapes from the city. To the east is Changi International Airport, connected to the city by metro, bus, and a tree-lined parkway. Of the island’s total land area, more than half is built up, with the balance made up of parkland, farmland, plantations, swamp areas, and rain forest. Well-paved roads connect all parts of the island, and Singapore city has an excellent, and constantly expanding, public transportation system. The heart of Singapore’s history and its modern wealth are in and around the Central Business District. The area includes the skyscrapers in the Central Business District, the 19th-century Raffles Hotel, the convention centers of Marina Square, on up to the top of Ft. Canning. Although most of old Singapore has been knocked down to make way for the modern city, most colonial landmarks have been preserved in the CBD, including early-19th-century buildings designed by the Irish architect George Coleman.

Belitung Island, Indonesia

Date of arrival 14 Nov 2026

The island of Belitung is large, measuring roughly 4,800 square kilometer (1850 square miles). Along with neighbouring Bangka and the many other surrounding small islands this is not just an archipelago, but a substantial province of Indonesia. Belitung used to have many tin mines, but today the island is better known for its nature. The most distinct features of Belitung’s many beaches are the fascinating granite rock formations along the shallow shores. These rocks can reach the size of houses and lie in bold contrast to the white sand. Swimming and snorkeling in the crystal clear waters reveals healthy corals and hundreds of fish.

Kumai, Indonesia

Date of arrival 15 Nov 2026

Kumai is a port town in southern Borneo and serves as the gateway to Tanjung Puting, one of the most important national parks of Indonesia. This largely undeveloped and wild national park possesses the largest and most diverse examples of coastal tropical heath and peat swamp forest of southern Borneo. Declared a National Park in 1982, orangutan and other primate species can be found in the park. Using Zodiacs and local boats to cruise into the Tanjung Puting National Park one of the main goals is to take a private tour of Camp Leakey, the landmark research station. Meeting Dr. Biruté Mary Galdikas, one of the founding scientists, and learning of her 45 years devoted to the study, care and preservation of endangered orangutans will be a highlight of the Camp Leakey visit.

Tanjung Wangi, Indonesia

Date of arrival 16 Nov 2026

Immerse yourself in the ecological wonders of Tanjung Puting National Park, a treasure trove of biodiversity located in the heart of Kalimantan, Indonesian Borneo. This UNESCO-recognised reserve spans mangrove swamps, lowland rainforests, and dense highland jungles, showcasing one of the world's most ancient ecosystems. Towering dipterocarp trees, precious ebony, and ironwood trees define the forest, while the park is alive with vibrant flora and fauna that have thrived for millennia.

Starting at 5:30am each day, disembark by Zodiac before boarding a traditional klotok houseboat for an approximately three-hour cruise along the river. Navigate the Sekonyer River aboard a traditional klotok boat, a perfect vantage point for observing the region's incredible wildlife. Over the next two days we hope to visit Pondok Tanggui and Tanjung Harapan, rehabilitation centres where young orangutans adapt to life in the wild, and the world-famous Camp Leakey, established in 1971 as Indonesia’s first orangutan rehabilitation centre, where semi-wild and wild orangutans roam amidst the pristine rainforest.

The wildlife is unparalleled, with Tanjung Puting hosting endangered orangutans, found only in Borneo and Sumatra, alongside proboscis monkeys, clouded leopards, macaques, and pangolins. The forest is also a paradise for bird enthusiasts, featuring over 600 bird species, including hornbills, cockatoos, and sunbirds. Crocodiles, pythons, and monitor lizards add to the park's rich tapestry of life, making it a haven for nature lovers and adventurers alike.

Tanjung Puting’s story would be incomplete without recognising the groundbreaking work of Dr. Biruté Mary Galdikas, President and Founder of Orangutan Foundation International and one of the legendary “Trimates,” alongside Jane Goodall and Dian Fossey. Dr. Biruté began her pioneering study of orangutans in the Bornean jungles at Camp Leakey, dedicating her life to understanding and protecting one of humankind’s closest living relatives. Her tireless efforts have saved thousands of orangutans, ensuring the survival of these incredible primates and their rainforest habitat for future generations.

Returning to the comfort of your ship each evening, this immersive journey offers not only close encounters with incredible wildlife but also a profound appreciation for the importance of preserving our natural world.

Misool, a pristine corner of Raja Ampat, is renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty and extraordinary marine biodiversity. Established in 2005, the Misool Marine Reserve safeguards a vast 300,000-acre expanse, protecting it from destructive fishing practices. This pioneering conservation effort has yielded remarkable results. A scientific study between 2007 and 2013 revealed a staggering 250% increase in fish biomass within the reserve, with some areas experiencing a phenomenal 600% recovery. This extraordinary transformation underscores the power of effective marine conservation. Beyond its ecological significance, Misool offers unparalleled opportunities for exploration and adventure. Relax in the crystal-clear waters, teeming with vibrant coral reefs and diverse marine life. Hike to the summit of Dafalen Peak for breathtaking panoramic views or discover the island's rich cultural heritage through ancient rock art sites.
